Gammaddata IEEE API 5.0 – Session 02: Artificial Intelligence

Description

The second workshop of the Gammaddata IEEE API 5.0 program, titled Session 02: Artificial Intelligence, was conducted virtually via Zoom on 14th September 2026 from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM, with the participation of 130 attendees. The session was organized collaboratively by the IEEE PES, IEEE RAS, and IEEE IAS Student Branch Chapters of the University of Moratuwa and was conducted by Maleesha Supun. Centered around the theme “Learn > Explore > Innovate,” the workshop introduced school students to the fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence. The speaker explained basic AI concepts in an easy-to-understand manner, including how machines can learn from data and make decisions. The participants were also introduced to several real-world applications of AI and were shown how artificial intelligence is already integrated into technologies used in everyday life. These practical examples helped students connect theoretical concepts with familiar applications and develop a clearer understanding of the field. The workshop concluded with an interactive Q&A session, followed by a token of appreciation to the speaker and a vote of thanks. The session provided participants with an introductory understanding of AI and encouraged them to further explore emerging technologies.
