The Faculty of Arts, University of Jaffna, has organized a technical workshop titled “ Preparing the Next Generation of GIS Professionals: Skills Development in GeoAI, Drone/UAV Technologies and Integrated GIS Solutions ” as part of the IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society (GRSS) Young Professionals (YP) Ambassador Program 2026. The workshop will be led by Mr. Supun Siriwardane, GM/CEO, GIS Solutions. This technical session will introduce participants to emerging applications of GeoAI, Drone/UAV technologies, and integrated GIS solutions. The programme will combine theoretical knowledge with practical learning to demonstrate how modern geospatial technologies can support spatial analysis, mapping, data collection, and decision-making. The event aims to strengthen participants’ awareness of current geospatial technology trends and develop practical skills relevant to further academic study and professional careers in GIS and related fields.
