September 27, 2026 · 3:30 PM - 4:30 PM @ Online event
Description
The monthly meeting of the IEEE Student Branch of SLTC for September 2026 was held during the semester examination period. As most members were occupied with their academic commitments, no projects or major activities were conducted during the month. However, a brief meeting was organized to review the progress of upcoming initiatives, discuss ongoing administrative matters, and ensure that preparations for future projects continued without interruption. The meeting commenced with the Chairperson collecting updates from the Chapter and Organizational Unit (OU) Chairpersons regarding their respective upcoming projects, planned activities, and current progress. The discussion provided an overview of the initiatives scheduled for the coming months and helped the Executive Committee maintain awareness of the activities planned across the Student Branch. Special attention was given to Decode Xtreme 2026, identified as the nearest upcoming major project of the Student Branch. It was discussed that all three sessions of the project would be conducted online. Bosilu Pupulewela, serving as the Student Branch Ambassador for IEEEXtreme, provided updates on the ongoing preparations, completed tasks, and upcoming responsibilities related to the project. The meeting also addressed the remaining activities and coordination required to ensure the successful execution of all three online sessions. In addition to project-related discussions, the Executive Committee reviewed the administrative process of transferring the Student Branch bank account responsibilities from the previous term's Treasurer to the Treasurer of the current term. The importance of completing the necessary formalities and ensuring a smooth transition of financial responsibilities was highlighted to maintain proper financial management and continuity within the Student Branch. The meeting also included a discussion about the 15th IEEE Sri Lanka Section Students, Young Professionals, and Women in Engineering Congress 2026 (IEEE SLSYWC '26). Members who participated in the congress shared their experiences and reflected on the valuable opportunities it provided for technical learning, professional development, networking, and collaboration with fellow IEEE members. The congress was recognized as a meaningful and rewarding experience that contributed to the personal and professional growth of the participants. Overall, the September meeting focused on maintaining coordination among the Executive Committee, reviewing upcoming project preparations, addressing essential administrative responsibilities, and reflecting on recent IEEE experiences. Despite the examination period limiting project activities, the meeting helped ensure that the Student Branch remained organized and prepared to resume its planned initiatives in the months ahead.
