IoTrix 2.0 Workshop 1 - From Embedded Nodes to Connected IoT Systems
June 21, 2026 · 9:30 AM - 11:00 AM @ Online event
Description
The IEEE C ommunications Society Student Branch Chapter of the IEEE Student Branch University of Ruhuna successfully organized an online workshop titled “From Embedded Nodes to Connected IoT Systems” on 21st June 2026 from 3.00 p.m. onwards, as part of the Phase 2 Technical Workshop Series of IoTrix 2.0. The workshop was organized with the aim of guiding participants through the practical development of embedded IoT solutions. The workshop provided participants with hands-on exposure to ESP32-based development, programming and hardware interfaces, sensor integration, communication between devices, connectivity, and simulation, and showed how to build a complete connected IoT node. Participants were required to have Arduino and Docker installed in order to follow the practical sessions. The workshop was conducted by Mr. Rumesh Rajasegar, Research and Development Engineer at Sri Lanka Telecom PLC and an M.Sc. Electronics and Automation Engineering student at the University of Moratuwa, who shared practical experience and industry-relevant guidance on developing connected embedded systems. The session was designed mainly for university undergraduates, private institute students, diploma holders, technical school leavers, and independent innovators interested in embedded systems and IoT development. The event was successfully conducted via Zoom with enthusiastic participation from over 75 participants.
