June 17, 2026 · 12:30 PM - 3:00 PM @ Online event
Description
The IEEE Communications Society Student Branch Chapter of the IEEE Student Branch University of Ruhuna successfully organized an online introduction session titled “How Modern IoT Systems Work” on 17th June 2026 from 6.00 p.m. onwards, as part of the Phase 2 Technical Workshop Series of IoTrix 2.0. The session was organized with the aim of introducing participants to the fundamentals of the Internet of Things (IoT) and its growing importance in modern technology. The session provided participants with a clear understanding of how modern IoT systems are designed and how they work as a whole. During the session, participants were introduced to IoT architecture, connected devices, sensors and actuators, communication protocols, embedded systems, edge computing, cloud connectivity, and the overall workflow of modern IoT systems. The session was conducted by Mr. Shehan Hettiarachchi, Research Executive in IoT and Embedded Systems and a BSc (Hons) in Software Engineering undergraduate at SLTC Research University, who shared valuable industry knowledge and practical insights into real-world IoT applications. The session was designed mainly for university undergraduates, private institute students, diploma holders, technical school leavers, and independent innovators interested in IoT and embedded systems. The event was successfully conducted via Zoom with enthusiastic participation from over 100 participants, laying a strong foundation for the workshops that followed.
