Conducted as part of the worldwide IEEE Day 2026 celebrations ( #ieeeday ), the University of Peradeniya IEEE Student Branch hosted an academic and research guidance session titled "How to Conduct a Research, Targeted for Paper Publication: Dive Deep into the Core Mechanics of Early-Stage Research." Held at the DEEE Smart Room , the workshop aimed to equip undergraduate students and budding researchers with practical strategies for navigating academic inquiry and literature exploration . Key focus areas included: Identifying and evaluating suitable, high-impact research areas . Formulating concise research questions and systematically identifying research gaps in existing literature . Best practices for structuring research workflow, methodical documentation, and planning studies geared toward peer-reviewed conference and journal publication . The session provided participants with actionable frameworks to transition from preliminary concepts to well-documented research manuscripts .
