CodeRally 7.0 | Workshop 01
July 19, 2026 · 3:30 AM - 6:30 AM @ Colombo 03, 435,
Description
Workshop 01 of CodeRally 7.0, titled “The Art of Problem Solving – Using AI Effectively in Competitive Programming”, was held at the IIT City Campus as the first hands-on learning session of the competition. The workshop focused on helping participants strengthen their problem-solving foundations while understanding how AI tools can be used responsibly and effectively to support their learning in competitive programming. Mr. Fiqri Ismail and Mr. Rasika Alahakoon of Winhe GTIS guided participants through structured approaches to breaking down algorithmic problems, identifying patterns and selecting suitable techniques. The session explored how AI can assist with understanding concepts, reviewing logic and debugging, while emphasizing the importance of independent thinking and building strong fundamentals rather than relying on AI to produce solutions. Through live demonstrations, practical examples and an interactive Q&A, participants gained clear strategies they could immediately apply to the weekly coding challenges, leaving the session better equipped and more confident in their competitive programming journey.
