CodeRally 7.0 | Workshop 03

August 16, 2026 · 1:30 PM - 3:00 PM @ Online event

Description

Workshop 03 of CodeRally 7.0, “From Constraints to Solutions”, was conducted online via Zoom by Mr. Kavinda Senarathne, Founding Engineer at Harbr Pty Ltd. The session focused on one of the most important yet often overlooked skills in competitive programming: using a problem’s constraints to guide the choice of an efficient solution. Participants learned how input sizes and limits point towards the time and space complexity a solution must achieve, and how this helps eliminate brute-force approaches early. The workshop covered selecting appropriate algorithms and data structures, optimising solutions to fit within time limits, and recognising common problem patterns, using worked examples to show the journey from a naive approach to an accepted solution. The session concluded with an interactive Q&A, giving participants a sharper and more systematic approach to problem-solving as they progressed through the Selection Weeks towards the CodeRally 7.0 finals.
